Foam before you touch the car. This is the step that prevents half of all wash marks: foam softens and carries away loose dirt before your mitt reaches it, instead of grinding it into the paint. A 1.5 litre tank and an electric pump — no pressure washer, no compressor. Fill it, aim, and cover the car in a couple of minutes.
